As immigrants come over to the United States from all around the world, the racial and ethnic composition of the United States has been altered permanently. With the number of immigrants coming to the Unites States increasing every year, the tension within the American society also has began rising. The tension among the American population is based on immigration reforms which appears to be largely a political and social issue focused on if immigration is beneficial or not and then what should be done about it.

As with any argument, there are many sides on the issue at hand. Some believe that immigration is a negative as a whole, while others see many positives to it. For instance one side points out that some immigrants are prone to crime and destructive behavior, others note that most immigrants arrive with high motives, good character, and laudable behavior. Some observers fear that the volume of non-European immigration threatens to swamp America's cultural heritage; others welcome an ever more multicultural society

The fact of the matter is that the topic brings a widespread of different views and opinions to the debate. This has been the case from the early 1800's when the process of immigration to the United States began. The debate it self is extremely important to all of us because immigrants affect us all. Immigrants are everywhere and make up a sizable part of the population and representation of the United States. They bring more money and more numbers to the economy and add to the labor force. When they come here they bring with them their culture and all their habits (good or bad). This in turn leads to assimilation and the birth of a new mixed culture. Without immigrants the United States would be not where it is today.
